Bauer, CCM and True are the three biggest names in hockey skates, and all three make excellent skates — the best one for you is the one that fits your foot. Bauer splits its range by fit and volume (Vapor is snugger, Supreme roomier), CCM separates its deeper "Tacks" fit from its more anatomical lines, and True builds a one-piece moulded boot known for a close, consistent fit. Measure your foot's length and width, pick the matching fit, then choose your level.
Which is better: Bauer, CCM or True?
None is better for everyone. Each brand builds several fits, and a well-fitting entry-level skate will beat a badly fitting pro skate every time. What really changes between brands is:
- Fit and volume — how much room the boot has across the foot, around the ankle and over the instep.
- Boot construction — layered boots (most Bauer and CCM models) versus True's one-piece moulded shell.
- Stiffness — stiffer boots give support and power for strong skaters; softer boots are easier for beginners and kids.
💡 Tip: Brand matters far less than fit. If you have a skate from one brand that already fits well, start with the same brand and fit line.
How do Bauer skates fit?
Bauer is the most widely played skate brand and has the widest range at T3 Sports — see all Bauer hockey gear.

- Vapor — the snugger, lower-volume line built for quick, agile skating. Example: Bauer Vapor Fly30 ice skates, and for inline the Bauer Vapor X3.
- Supreme — a roomier, deeper fit with a focus on power and stability. Example: Bauer Supreme M30.
- X series — comfortable entry-level skates for beginners and recreational players, such as the Bauer X-LS 2.0.
- Many newer Bauer lines also come in Fit 1, Fit 2 and Fit 3 — narrow, medium and wider options of the same skate. Ask us which fit is available in your size.
How do CCM skates fit?
CCM is one of the oldest names in hockey. Browse all CCM hockey gear.

- Tacks — generally a deeper fit with more room around the heel and ankle, popular with players who want a locked-in, powerful feel.
- Jetspeed-style anatomical fits — a medium fit shaped around the foot, aimed at agility.
- Next — CCM's beginner and recreational range; the CCM Next player skates are a comfortable first ice skate.
How do True skates fit?
True Hockey builds its skate boots as one moulded piece, rather than many stacked layers. Players often describe the fit as close and consistent along the whole foot.

- Many True skates are heat-mouldable, which helps the boot settle around your foot.
- Examples at T3 Sports: True HZRDUS 5X ice skates and the True TF7. See all True hockey gear.
How do I choose the right skate for my foot?
- Measure length in centimetres (or inches), standing, in a thin sports sock — our skate size guide shows how.
- Check your width. If regular shoes often feel tight across the foot, you probably need a wider or higher-volume fit (for example Bauer Supreme, CCM Tacks, or a Fit 3 model).
- Think about your heel and ankle. A narrow heel often suits snugger fits like Bauer Vapor; a wider heel or high instep suits deeper fits.
- Choose your level. Beginners and growing kids are best in softer, entry-level skates; strong, frequent skaters benefit from stiffer, higher-level boots.
- Match ice or inline. The fit lines are similar, but inline skates use wheels — pick the right wheels for your surface.
⚠️ Warn: Hockey skates usually run half to one full size smaller than your shoe size. Ordering by shoe size alone is the most common mistake.
What about inline skates from other brands?
For inline and roller hockey, specialist brands are worth a look. Alkali makes inline-only skates such as the Alkali Cele III, and Mission's FS2 skates are built for roller hockey. Wheel and bearing upgrades from Labeda and Hi-Lo suit Indian outdoor surfaces.
Is skate sizing the same in India and abroad?
Yes. Bauer, CCM and True use the same skate size scales in every country — and those skate sizes are not the same as Indian, UK or US shoe sizes. Always go by foot length in centimetres or inches and the brand's own chart. A skate that fits you in Canada or Europe fits the same in India.
How do I get the right skate from T3 Sports?
